Picture of Einar and Árnína his wife with Valborg when Louise and Kerrine visited in 2009.

My father got interested in genalogy many years ago when he reallized that he had only one uncle but others seemd to have lots of uncles and aunts.
He started by drafting his family tree and finally around 1980 he found two relatives that had emigrated.

My parents then travelled three times to Canada, 1996, 1998 and 2001.
On the first trip they met descendants of Guðjóna Sigvaldason from his mother’s family but found no relative from his father’s family.

Einar&Dasy

In 2001 Einar and Árnina travelled to GImli and visited Daisy and Elert her husband. In this trip he found many more of his relatives.

Einar&fred

In 2003 Fred Bjarnason contacted my father, he was then in Iceland on the Snorra Program with Runa Bjarnason jr. My parents and I then went to meet with them, which was the first contact with relatives from the Vigfusson family in Canada.

Lilja Schooley (Vigfusson) contacted Fred in 2004 asking him about my family as she was interested in visiting Iceland. Fred gave her my address and after many letters and lots of writing, Lilja and her husband Richard visited us in Iceland summer 2006.
The same year Benna Martin visited us in Iceland with her daughters Sandy Grant and Sharon Thordarson. Vilborg Thordarson (Vigfusson) is her mother in law.
In 2008 I went with my grand daughter to BC, met Fred and Runa and then traveled to Winnipeg and Gimli where we met so many of our relatives. When I returned, my father had just found relatives of the Northfield family, Sveinn G. Northfield in Edinburg N-Dakota which is related to us.
In 2009 Louise Tower and Kerrine Adair (Daisy Vigfusson’s daughters) came to visit us in Iceland and then Stefán and myself went to Victoria and met Fred, Runa and other relatives.

All these visits and our relations with long lost relatives have been very interesting and exciting, and finally my father’s dream of having lots of uncles and aunts has come true.
